Single Story Home Design and Structural Engineering in California

In St. Helena, California, S3DA Design offered structural engineering services for a one-story residential building . The home's 2695 square feet include a dining room, living room, family room, three bedrooms, and three bathrooms. A client came to us and requested that the old roof and structure be replaced with a new truss roof system. Scissors trusses were the solution our structural engineering team suggested to sit on the walls at various levels. Our engineering team created a concrete tie beam on top of the wall (depth 6") with No. 4 reinforcing bars under the trusses in order to increase the stability of the existing CMU walls. In Revit, the structure was modelled and derivatives were created. ROBOT structural software was used for the truss calculations.
